Information into action

Predict response, improve outcomes

Perlegen focuses on clinical situations in which reliable information about a patient’s genetics has the potential to improve patient care by improving therapeutic decisions. The ultimate goal of each of our programs is to provide patients, physicians, and payers with reliable, accurate, and medically actionable information.

With this goal in mind, we select clinical opportunities where we believe information about a patient’s genetics will likely improve patient care through improved selection among existing available therapies.

Together with our Clinical Strategy Advisory Board, we have identified specific criteria for developing these programs. These criteria include:

  • Large, clearly identified patient populations
  • Significant unmet medical need
  • Need for additional data to support case-by-case clinical decision-making
  • Likely role of genetics in patient variability
  • Clinical significance of discovered genetic markers

Following are examples of Perlegen’s diagnostic programs now in development:
