Position Summary In this role, you will draft contracts relating to research collaborations and license agreements, review contractual terms/conditions, including government contracts, and respond to inquiries regarding contract obligations and revisions. You will also initiate documentation and work with internal business development personnel to formalize deal terms. Additionally, you will perform on-line legal research and utilize technical information to make independent decisions and recommendations to the Director, IP and Legal Affairs. Your primary emphasis will be on due diligence and drafting/negotiating resolutions, contracts and other legal documents and instruments. Requirements To qualify, it is preferred that you have an undergraduate degree in Science, Business or related field and a strong familiarity with government contracts and licensing. Knowledge of intellectual property licensing terms, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to create, compose and edit legal opinions is also necessary. Knowledge of legal research and contract documents/specifications are essential.
Position Summary We currently have an excellent opportunity available for a Software Engineer to be a key member of the Compute Pipeline/Instrumentations software development group. Well rely on you to develop and maintain instrument control and data acquisition software for our proprietary lab instrumentation; develop and enhance interfaces between our in-house developed laboratory information management system and third-party instrumentation; and contribute to the development of image and data processing software used in our compute pipeline. In addition, you will maintain and extend in-house applications that control our proprietary instrumentation, integrate laboratory instruments with custom laboratory information management software, maintain and develop high-throughput data/image processing applications for compute pipeline, and create and maintain technical documentation. Requirements To qualify, you should have 5+ years Windows (VC++, COM/ATL) programming experience with an emphasis on systems software development and 1+ year .NET (C#/VB.NET) programming experience. You should also have strong instrument level C++/C# programming skills, (RS232, NI DAQ boards, digital I/O, data acquisition), experience with all stages of software development lifecycle and image processing method and algorithm development. Two or more years database programming skills with Oracle (PL/SQL) and experience with integrating common life science instrumentation (thermocyclers, liquid handlers, etc.) into lab software environments. Experience in life sciences industry or background in molecular biology or genetics considered a plus.
Position Summary Our highly motivated and independent team of data analysts is expanding and we currently have several new opportunities available for Statistical Genetics Analysts to participate in the analysis of whole genome scan data, exploratory analysis of novel genomic datasets, process improvement initiatives, production data quality control and other analysis projects. We’ll rely on you to analyze and interpret data from individual and pooled genotyping, design and implement novel algorithms for analysis and data knowledge representation. The ability to work effectively in cross-functional collaborative project teams, develop and apply novel data analysis algorithms and provide written and oral feedback will be keys to your success. Requirements To qualify, you should have an MS/PhD in Genetics or Biological Sciences with a strong statistical background or an MS/PhD in Statistics or equivalent with a strong genetics or biology background or equivalent training and experience. Additional requirements include 2–5 years of relevant work experience, familiarity with statistical genetics, strong data management and programming skills and demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought. Familiarity with data mining techniques would be a plus.
Position Summary You will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, progress, and expansion of current collaborations with our pharmaceutical and other commercial partners. This includes identifying and negotiating future opportunities with our commercial partners. You will be the overall relationship manager for one or more of our commercial partners. As part of the alliance management team you will also participate in identifying, establishing, structuring and negotiating value-building relationships with potential academic, government and non-profit partners who share our interest in improving peoples lives.In the alliance manager role you will provide strong project management support for our existing pharmaceutical partners and work closely as a liaison with the California-based scientific staff. You will be involved in developing and negotiating term sheets to execute expanded collaborations and new alliances. You will be involved in evaluating Perlegens capabilities to support proposed deals and developing relationships that result in a joint work plan that meets the alliance goals. This includes keeping current on the competitive landscape by monitoring and evaluating comparable deals and developing benchmarks and best practices. It also involves monitoring the industry and our partners activities to determine the best way to create value for Perlegen and its partners. Requirements An understanding of genetics, biology, and business required. Specific experience working with pharmaceutical companies, grant-funding institutions, or related experience preferred. Position requires a minimum of a BS in a related science field with a MBA, Masters or doctorate degree in science a plus. At least five years in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry in strategic alliance, corporate collaboration, project management or deal-making roles preferred. Proven project management experience with financial analysis and negotiation skills required. Cultural fit is critical.
